The Domain Board has decided to apply to the Attorney-General for prison labor* The wife of Mr Dorrington, jeweller, lost the power of speech in a sudden swoon, through excessive joy. She has not yet recovered.
StJDDEN DEATH. William Fergussou, of Eilerslie, aged 69, fell dead at Newmarket. The inquiry re grounding of the Botomahana was commenced and adjourned. Captain Underwood deposed that he had endeavored to dissuade Henderson and Macfarlane from sending the steamer to the Barrier, as he did not consider it safe, but was obliged to obey orders. The Acclimatisation Society papsed a rote of thanks to Mr J. C. Firth for the distribution of the whitefish ova.
