ST. PETER'S HAMILTON.
The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. Peter's, Hamilton, was held last evening the Rev. William Galder in the chair. The Chairman in reviewing the work don© in the parish, said that although we had not quite so many people at the services at St. Peter's, that there were a number of people who now went to the church on the East sidewhere there was service every Sunday alternately morning and evening. The number of Communions made have been nearly 500 at St. Peter's, and 100 at Hamilton East. Sunday-chools were still thriving, St. Peter's having 100 children, 9 teachers, and the Rev. Mr Davies having 60 pupils and six teachers. The singing on both sides of the river was improving, and bearing in mind the number of people living away out of ' Hamilton, we might congratulate ourselves on our ecclesiastical progress. The Chairman concluded by congratulating the people on having a united parish and painstaking vestry. The following report was then read by the Tresurer: — In presenting to >ou our bj.lu.nce sheet for l.u>t halt -year, Iha\c to draw \our attention to the f.itt that although our liabilities are L 53 in excess ot what they were at the end ot previous) car; \et considering our increased expenditure and the depressed times, we may congratulate oursehes on the financial outcome as a whole. Our general revenue by pew -rents.subsi riptions '• donation* and offertories e\i eeds th.it ot 1871s bj L|i, but our expenditure has been heavier. The stipends to Clergy being 1.68 more, and an exceptional iharge ot L 52 tor repairs to parsonage h.is been necessarily mt urrcd. We have a possible liability of L2^ hanging o\er us for coping, &c\. ot retaining wall ot the 1 hurt h; but this, we trust, in consideration of the damage done to the ( hurch property b\ the tutting tor bridge approach that the Uorough Count il will relieve us of. With the heavy debts that ue still have against us, however, the united and heart} efforts ot the members of the congregation will' be required to keep our financial affairs in a healthy tondition.
