CHRISTCHURCH.
Considerable anxwty has been felt by the runholders between Hurunui and Waihou since scabby sheep were found a little while ago on Holmes' station. It transpired that nine scabby sheep afterwards crossed the Waihou river, and all the settlers in the neighborhood turned out to Bearoh. In various flocks eleven infected cheep ware found. The sheep in the district where the scabby ones passed have been dipped, and where they were found infected 400 fine merino wethers were mustered and slaughtered. Every effort and sacrifice is being made to stamp out the disease. Some beas-les sold here by auction yesday brought 12s each.
