CRICKET.

Waitoa v. Cambbidge. This was rather an unexpected match to the Cambridge team. It appears a challenge had been sent, and had missearned ; their team therefore was got up at very short notice. The Jambridge men were captained by A. B. {stubbing, and the Waitoa by J. 8. >mith. The former won the toss and elected to go to the wickets. The batting was very weak, and all were out for 28 runs. Waitoa went in, and scored 44, Captain Smith making top score with 19. (Jambridge went in again, and made |36, with very ordinary play. Waitoa, in their second innings, wanted 21 to win and 20 to tie. Martin and Stubbing both bowled well, the former taking four wickets, and the latter fivt^, (making in all nine wickets) for 19 runs. The last man then went in for Waitoa, and one was scored, when Johnson hit a skyer to long oft", which was clumsily missed by Ashwell. 1 hus the match was lost and won. The bowling of Smith and Wills, for Waitoa, was good.
