COLONIAL NEWS. DUTIES IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, January 16.
An exciting debate took place in the Assembly last night on the Treaturer's proposal to impose an excise duty on colonial ale. The proposition was ultimately rejected by a majority of two, and the remaining reaoloutions in favour of excise duties were withdrawn.
