There was a good attendance, not only of spectators but of horses also, *nd the races were evenly contested, Voiding excellent sport. The stakes were pretty evenly distributed through thd district — Ma vern, who may be said to be a Waikato horse, pulling 1 off die Publicans' Purse, ridden by Charley Totara, of Hamilton. Harold carried the Consolation Stakes to Ng&ruawahia, and the Hurry Scurry Stakes went to Te Awanmtu, to the owner of Rally. Alclvor's Malvern was also the winner of the Cup presented by Mr J. Douglas. Grey Momus and 1 Sportsman were again brought into ■tfrecb rivalry, but despite all that he old WaikaU) horse could do, pven with h stone given to him, Grpy Momus proved the winner. The arrangements of the course were very complete, and too much credit cannot be given to the indefatigable Secretary of the Club, Mr Wai. ter Scott.
