POLICE COURT. HAMILTON.— Tuesday.

[Before H. W. Northoroft, Esq., B.M.] Abraham D. Ward was charged with using 1 obscene and offensive language on the railway platform at the Frankton station on the 7th inst. Charles Johnson, a porter employed at the station, deposed, to the language used by defendant. William Kelly and Kate Mildew deposed to the use of blasphemous language. Joshua Smith, for the defence, stated that he was within three yards of defendant on the platform, and did not hear him use any bad language. James Coleman deposed to being within three yards of where defendant and prosecutor were standing. He heard an angry altercation between them, but no bad language used. He could swear that defendant did not use the language attributed to him by the. witnesses lor the proseoution. A. W. Ward, defendant, on oath, said : I came up last Wednesday. I put my things by the side of the platform. 1 went to the hotel and saw the fiast witness handling my box which is labelled, " This side up, with care." I said to him, " Why don't you leave it alone ? You've done me £50 worth of damage ; T'll summons you." He replied, "If I had you in Hamilton I would make it hot for you," QajSQ djgmigged.
