RAILWAY ACCOMMODATION.

TO THE EDITOE. Sib,— l btg through your valuable columns to draw attention to the inadequate passenger accommodation afforded to the public yesterday by the railway authorities between Auckland and Hamilton, by the 7 a.m. train. In spite of the fact that return tickets were advertised at single fare, as an inducement to the public to visit your district for the Waikato I urf i lub Meeting, no extra accommodation was provided, and passengers holding 1 6ccond class tickets were huddled into first class carriages, to the inconvenience of holders of first class tickets, and mora

especially to ladies. It is but reasonable to suppose that if this state of things is permitted to continue, the public at holiday time, knowing that ft second oluss tic et will enable them to travel iv a first class carriage, owing to a crush at Buoh tihies, will save the difference between first and second class fare, and purchase second class tickets, reaping all the privileges of holders of first class tickets. The railway authorities cau give no such excuse as that of not knowing that a large number of passengers was presenting itself, inasmuch as all, with the exception of perhaps half-a-dozen, got into the train at the Auckland station, when there were plenty of second class carriages which should have been attached to the train. Trusting you will insert this protest in your valuable journal— l am, &c, Excursionist.
