THE HAMILTON BAND. TO THE EDITOR.
Sib, — Is it true that Sergeant Williams wrote a letter in explanation of his condiioc re the Hamilton. Band on Boxing Day, and you refused to publish it ?—? — Yours, &c, I Want to Kxow [Our correspondent is perfectly correct. We did refuse to publish such a letter. It is no part of the Press to interfere m the military discipline of a corps. I hat the bandsmen had a grievance we believe, but Sergeant Williams when he directly disobeyed the order of his superior officer placed himself beyond the pale of explanation. Had he oboyed the orders, sought redress and failed to get it from his officers, then the columns of thi3 joxirnal would have been at Ms Service. We cannot lend them to subserve mutiny. —
