LATEST CAPE NEWS.
London, December 20. The latest news from the Cape state that the British had taken the stronghold of Seccoeni. Two officers were killed and and four wounded. December 22, The latest intelligence from General Boberts, on the 18th, reports all well, no further fighting having taken place. He remains on the defensive at Sherpan. General Roberts urges General Gough's immediate advance m light order. He cays that he will meet with no opposition, and, when reinforcements arrive, can settle the Cabal affair without difficulty. General 'Gough left to-day with 1400 troops and five guns. The roads to Cabul are clear. December 21. The impression is increasing, that Parliament will be dissolved m the spring. London, December 22. Waldy, a Liberal, was elected m place of the late Mr Roebuck, as member for Sheffield. The Czarina is m a critical state. Anxiety is felt for her recovery. General Gough. m marching into Cabul with 2500 men and six guns.
