THE HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY BAND.
TO THE EDITOR. . Sir,—l beg for space to give one word m reply to your correspondent " Looker On," m your issue of Thursday. He charged me with an unfair criticism of the. Hamilton Infantry Band. I think my report gave them the credit due to them, and to show that the praise I gave them was genuine, I ventured to point out ■where there might be a little improvement. A member of the Band asked mo what I thought of it, and I said they were far better than I had expected, and
that they were moro efficient than the Cambridge Band was after four months practice. But I said they had not enough principle (sic.) In reply I was told that several good cornofc players had loffc the Band, having gone away from the district. I wished to specially mention m my report of the races several prominent players — amongst them notably the ono who had the fitsfc clarionet — but thinking perhaps it was not well to particularise where all did tlieir best I left it out. — I am, &c, Youb Repobteb. Cambridge, Dec. 6th.
