WAIKATO TURF CLUB, SUMMER MEETING, 1880. It will be seen by the programme for this meeting which appears m another place that the Committee of the Club have decided to hold their iheeting much earlier next year than usual. It was found that when the races were held m February all the beat horse? liad loft the province for other engagements where the stakes were higher, and it is hoped by holding the meeting immeiately after the Auckland races that large fields of the best horses m the colony will fdee the starter for the principal events and give Waikato settlers an opportunity of seeing what breeders are doing down south m the shape, of blood stock. No doubt many horses will remain m Waikato until the Cambridge meeting which takes place a few day's after.
If will be seen that the Waikato Turf Club have issed a* full and attract tire programme and that for the principal events stakes have been offered which will ensure a free competition.
