A letter was read from Messrs , Swar brick accompanied by a plan of roads on their property which they represented as unnecessary and impracticable. After discussing the matter, the Board agreed to close these roads, together with a road on the Marsh-Meadows estate (Captain Rundown's) and the • Engineer was instructed to prepare the necessary
plans and descriptions, with as little delay ns poss : ble. When thoy are . completed, the Secretary wag directed to publicly notify and do all things required by the Public Works Act, 1876, to carry out the wishes of Messrs S war brick and Runciman and at .their expense. Another communication was iead from Messrs Swarbrick relative to certain large holes m the road adjoining their farm, whioh they represented to be •dangerous to the public. The letter was accompanied by a tender to fill and level them, to the satisfaction of the Engineer for a sum of £20. The Engineer having expressed an opinion that Messrs Saw brick's offer was a liberal one, and the Board concurred m that belief, the tender •was accepted. , The Engineer was requested to prepare specifications, and call for tenders to be received up till 2 p.m. on Wednesday, tho 17th inst. for the undermentioned works, viz., cutting and forming over Johnson's Hill, Hukonui Road ; forming from Hukonui Road to Teas's farm ] the reduction of the grade at Claude's hill.

Mr Lovell of Taupiri laid on the table a plan of roads, on, or adjoining his property, which, he had been led to believe, had been directed by the board about three years' ago. He stated that he bad given land for a road two chains wide m exchange for the old road one chain wide, and being under tho impression that the arrangement had been duly carried out by the board, he had sold two small lots on the old road, and now found he was unable to give a title. . As nore of tbe Trustees had a
knowledge of the transaction, and Mr Lovell being unable to give the date, it was resolved t/, defer the consideration of it till uext meeting, m the interim Mr Lovell to furnish tbe Secretary with any particulars h_ may be able to obtain likely to facilitate a search among the records of the board. The Secretary was instructed to bring the matter before the County Council, at its next meeting, on the 19th inst. Thia included the business.
