December 4.— The past week has not been characterised by much activity, and transactions have been on as meagre a scale as marked the previous week. In wheat, little business has been done, and prices continued on the same basis, viz., 4s 9d to sa. Fowls' feed has been sold m small lots, at 3s 6d to 4s, according to condition. Oats remain at about last week s value-Is lOd to 2s lOd for feed ; milling, 2s to 2s 2d. Melbourne advices report a weak market, and the presence of considerable shipments. Flour: A fair "business m this has been done at £12 10s to £13. Grass-seed cutting has commenced ; the yield will be heavy. Opening rates have not yet come under much notice, but it is pretty generally expected the price will be a iong way under that of last year. Dairy produce— Butter : For good samples, 7d to 7^d is the price asked. Cheese is also opening freely at 6d to 6d. Hams and bacon remain about the same. Owing to fine weather .having set m, the majority of the country people are bußily engaged m haymaking and shearing, and,

as far as we are able to judsre, the different j crops throughout the province are looking batter than they have done m an^ former year, btock is coming forward m firstclass condition m consequence of the abundant supply of grass. Mutton commands lfd per lb. for fat sheep; fat lambs, 6s 6d to 7s each. Stores are m active demand. Beef, 24s per lOOlbs.
