Enteibs for the three principal events of the forthcoming A.R.U. Summer Meeting were received by the secietary up. to 8 o'clock on Friday evening. Although .numerically as well as jn class the entries are better than those of last year, there may still, m consequence of the stoppage of cable communication between the North and South Islands, be a few additional ones. Last year, 1878, there were 26 entries for the ■ .up, as against 36 this year ; there were 27 for the Handicap as against 37 this year ; while for tho .steeplechase there were 9 entries as against 10 this year.
