HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
It will be seen, by his letter elsewhere, that Or. Potter is about to resign his seat in the Borough i 'ouncil, merely holding over his formal iesigtation until another Chairman shall have been eleoted, so a8 not to threw the Council business into confusion, as there are several documents whioh require to be signed. Cr. Potter has tabled the following notices ef motion, for next sitting- day : — THE BKIDGB APPROACHES. " hat the Surveyor for the work (Mr B.seakell) be requested to furnish a special report on the approaches to the bridge on the west side of the river (Livingstone and Booth s contract), showing how far tho contract has been proceaded with up to date; any variation made therein in respect to retaining- wall near the Church of iingland, or other portion of tho work, either in quantity, value, order, or otherwise, ?nd how far it differs from tho original ; the quantity of material available m the cutting now under hand to complete said roadway up to the bridged; what quautity,in addition to that already used, will be required to complete the whole, as shown on plans ; if. any material* qhkjv fclwn. {tat akowa i»the QuHws»-ffilL
bo required for tho work ; what quantities &0., and are Buoh quantities (if any) provided for, or are included in the^ gross amonnt stated in tho contract price." MAP OF THE BOROUQH. " In aooordanoe with a previous resolution of this Council to Mr Breakell, with respect to a map of the Borough, as provided by -the lOOtfa section of tho " Municipal Corporation Act," Mr Brpa»ell be requested to" forward to the Town Clerk forthwith, the compiled portion of such mnp of the two front sections, one on either side of the river, showing the levels taken, together with tho cross sections of the same, as approved by this Council; the permanent bench marks laid down therein, and the scale of each > of the levels referred to aa so approved." CONSERVATION OF TUB BIVEB BANKS IN THE BOBOT7GH. " With a view to conserve the banks of tht river for wharfage purposes, this C 'ouncel are of opinion that previous to the foreshore allotments— as surveyed — beinglet for wharfage, a suitable landing be erected in a line before each for that purpose ; and that the Steam Navigation Company be invited to report to this Council as to the extent of such works into the river, with any other information they may deem necessary as to landing goods thereon from vessels lying in the river." ♦
