Srß,~ ln answer to Mr Wayte' s letter m your issue of last Thursday, re my advoi'tisement, will you allow me briefly to lay tho real facts of tho case before your readers. It is well known that since I started my business m Waikato, it has very largely increased, necessitating moro capital than I could put into it. Mr Wayte agreed to back me, and urged me to push on the business, believing as I do m tho future of H amilton and Cambridge. I gavo him security over nearly everything I possessed, on the understanding that he Avas to carry me through, but now ho is selling his own bu*.iness m Auckland with the intention of going* to ' ngland, aud not being m a position to make further profit out of my dealings with him and wishing to realise his property he has taken possession of the business, It is true that he offered terms to me for redemption, but, as ho well knows they wero utterly impracticable With regard to the three hundred pounds he says he was willing to allow me if I got back the business, I can only say that it was no portion of Ins legitimate claim, but was a reduction made by my other creditors when I first got into difficulties, m order to put mc m a better position. Mr Wayte guaranteed the remainder of the money owing, and then charged me with the full ' amount. Mr Wayte and his manager have both taken stock and their statement show-} a la-'gc balance m my favor, independent of the three hundred pounds he so generously says he is willing to allow me. I have never parted Avith the goodwill of my business, and now leave it to the settlers as to whether they will support me when I re-opeu. — I am, &c, T. C. Hammond.
