THE OFFENDERS TO BE GIVEN UP. GRAHAMSTOWN, last night. Tukukino has persuaded Pineha to allow Pakara and Epiha to be given over to justice. The following telegram was sent through, to the Native Minister, last night : - — " Paeroa. Hon. Sheehan : Pineaha, through the action of Tukukino, has, at last, consented to Epiha and Pakara being given up, lest the peace of Hauraki be disturbed. Will take a week yet before matters are finally concluded. — Puckey." RUSSELL, last ni^ht. At the declaration of the poll, Lundon was announced duly elected Representative for Europeans, and Honi Mohi for Maoris. Hiriwi Taipehanga has lodged a protest against both candidates, Lundon for being elected on a corrupt roll, Honi Mohi, for being a Native Assessor. WELLINGTON, last night. . GLADSTONE ELECTION. Studholme, 180;DrDeane, 161. Other returns to come. COLERIDGE ELECTION. Independent Liberal returned by a large majority. DUNEDIN, Saturday. UNEMPLOYED. A meeting of unemployed was held in Dunedin yesterday. About 300 persons were present. The speakers were mostly moderate and sensible. A committee was appointed to interview the Mayor. A small subscription was raised to pay fdr advertising and rent of a hall to hold the meeting in. ' There werq eight bankrupties this week, all for trifling amounts with the exception of Father Larkin, Roman Catholic priest, whose liabilities are £1700 and assets £200. A deputation of unemployed waited on the Mayor and said they represented 600 people, many of whose families were utterly destitute. The Mayor promised to see the Harbor Board and ascertain if that body and the Corporation could not find some employment. The ' Times' urges a coalition Government under Mr Macandrew to include Messrs Gisbome, Montgomery, Hall, and Wakefield.
