Waikato Times Office, Friday Evening. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. MB. A. BTTOKLAND'S WEEKLY BEPORT The monthly sale at Waiuku, on Saturday last, was better supplied than usual ; 150 head cattle of all classes yarded. There was a good demand from the settlers m the neighborhood, for all offered at prices equal to those ruling at Remuera. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy-fed cattle W6re at lower values than have lately ruled, but well-bred heifers m good request. Not many store cattle yarded. A few steers, not well-fatted, were purchased by the graziers, but all wellfatted cattle were m steady demand, at prices varying from 27s for ship-borne, to 31s for Auckland-fatted stock. Fat calves scarce, and afc- extreme pricos". Sheep were numerous, but many of them m inferior condition ; those were at low values, but good mutton was slightly bettor 'vorth than last week. Fat lambs were numerous ; for those of choice quality good prices, from 12s to 17s each, were given, but middling lambs were from 3s to Bs. Few pigs yarded ; these were m good demand. MESSES HUNTER AND NOLAN'S WBEKLY BEPOBT. Horses : The market has been barely supplied, and the demand has continued steady, consequently more good horses cauld have been disposed of satisfactorily. The entries for sale by auction at the Durham Yards were scarcely up to the average ; competition was steady throughout, and for those of a good stamp keen. Lots were cleared at fully the previous week's values. We quote hacks, from £6 •to £15 10s ; light harness horses, £14 to £24 ; plough horses, £24 to £29 ; draught, £24 10s. Cattle: Activity has characterised the market. The supply has scarcely been adequate, and good stores would have found ready purchasers. The peps were moderately fillsd at Newmarket on Tuesday. The dairy stock yarded were not of a first-class description, and consequently no high prices were given, but for cows at their profit, the demand-was good. Stores remained at last week's values. For fat beasts, competition -was brisk ; and for top sorts, 328 6d per lOOlbs. was given. There was no noteworthy alteration m last week's quotations for other descriptions of stock. Sheep : The supply has been good, and there was an improved demand, 2s per head advance having been given for some reserved the previous week. Ewes and lambs sold at 12s 6d ; store wethers, Us ; fait sheep, from Is 8d to Is lOd per Slbs. A good many lambs were penned, but almost all of them light weights, and sold at from 8s to 15s 6d.
