DINNER TO D. B. HINDLE, ESQ.
A farewell dinner wss given to Mr D. B. Hindle, on Saturday evening 1 , at tho Delta Hotel, oh the evo of his departure on a visit to tho old country. A large number of Mr Hindle's friends'attended. Owing to the inclemency of the weather, those residing at a distance were debaared the pleasure of testifying, m person, their sincere appreciation of Mr Hindle's claim upon their hospitality. Mr L. B. Harris occupied the Chair, and Mr W. Dickson the Vice- Chair. After the usual loyal toasts, the chairman proposed, m eloquent language, tho health of " The Guest of the evening," expatiating On the losa the district would .sustain m Mr Hindle' a absence, even if only for a short time, "For, he's, a jolly good fellow." Mr Hindle replied, m a short but appropriate speech. After which several songs were suns and speeches made. The spread was sumptuous, and the enjoyment of those thereat, great. The evening: terminated with the Health of " Host and Hostess," " Auld Lang Syne," and « Bon Voyage."
