Waikato Times Office, Friday Evening. AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET. MR A. BXTOKLAND'S WEEKLY REPORT. At tlio Haymarket on August 29, horse stock were offered m limited numbers, with a good demand. Aged draughts brought from £25 to £40 ; an entire, £6o ; an omnibus, £25. On Monday, at Pukekoho, there was a full muster of cattle. For grown stock a good demand at late values, but young cattle were at lower prices— ss per head. At the sale of hides, on Tuesday, prices ranged from 2d to 3d per lb ; sheepskins, from Is 7d to 2s lid each: fleece wool, s}d the lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were at last week's values. Store cattle" m irregular demand. Choice animals sold freely, but aged or inferior cattle scarcely saleable. Fat cattle m less than average supply— l l3 yarded. Prices were slightly better than last Week. Auckland-fatted cattle were steady at 295; Ship-borne, 26s the lOOlbs. Store sheep at late values; ewes, with lambs at side, 12s ; hoggetts, m their wool, 6s each. Fat sheep m full numbers, with a dull sale at 2£d to 2£d the lb. Balf-bred wethers, well-fatted, brought from lls 6d ; longwoolled wethers, 13s to 16s each. A few' lambs, the first of this season, brought from 12s 6d to 20s each. Horses.— At the Durham Yards, on Friday, a larger number than usual were entered for disposal by auction, lhere was a marked improvement m the class of animals offered, consequently bidding was spirited, and the few passed at auction were,*rith one or two exceptions, disposed of privately after the sale. We quote hacks from £6 5s to £18, light harness horses from £13 to £24 10s, draught horses from £32 to £45. Cattle.— * large number have changed hands, and although there has been little alteration m values, a good demand has existed. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, there was an average muster of all descriptions. Fat beasts were m adequate supply. Bidding was slow, but for wellfattened animals last week's prices were given, while for thoae not so well up m condition prices receded Is per 100 lbs. At Papakura, on Wednesday, we quote dairy cows from £7 10s to £9 155 ; weaned calves, from £1 17s 6d to £2 18s ; yearling steers, £2 17s 6d to £3 10s ; two-year-old steers, from £1 to £5 2? 6d ; three-year-old steers, from £5 5s to £7; dry cows, from £4 to £5 los. Sheep. — A large number have been brought forward, and there has been a steady demand, last week's prices were . sustained.
