It is thought that Mr J. Lundon, whose name has boon somewhat prominently connected with tke politics of the district, will not come forward. Marsden-.— Three candididatca— Sir E. Douglas, Captain Colbock, and Mr Dargaville. Between these the fight will lie. It is not expected that any other will come upon tho scene. A Whangarei correspondent writes : — 11 Soveral candidates are preparing for the approaching contest in the Marsden electoral district. It would be unfair to prejudge the result. The electors of the Couuty of Whangarei manifest nothing but indifference in the proceedings, so far as they have gone. A meeting will be convened iu a few days to discuss the matter. In the meantime telegrams are flying about, suggesting neutrality until the candidates disclose their merits. Very good advice, indeed." Waisiate. — A terrific single combat comes off here between Messrs. Macfarlane and Hurst. Both are energetic workers, and great fun is anticipated to the spectators. City East. — Although he has not been in residence in Auckland for some time, Mr Rees, the sitting member, would have still a good chance in City East, but, of course, his hope was gone when it was found he was not on the roll. Mr Clark is the only cundidats as yet announced. City West.— For this constituency, offering two seats, Dr. Wallace has announced himself, while Messrs. W. Beuchannan, J. Marshall, K.
