Samuel Joy w:xs charged with a breach of " The Vagrant A.ct Amendnient Act, 1879," to wit, making use of profane and indecent language in a public place in the Borough of Hamilton. Two witnesses were examined, who proved the case beyond doubt. His Worship : It is only a short time ago since this prisoncer appeared before me, and, I think, for a similar offence. Sergeant McGovern : It is six months past, Your Worship, but the language the prisoner used on that occasion was mild in comparison to last night; His Worship : I think I inflicted a heavy fin© on th,at occasion,

His Worship gave the prisoner a severe lecture, and inflicted a fine of ■£5, and costs, or in default two months imprisonment. Prisoner : I suppose your Worship .will give me time to pay the iiue. His Worship : The matter is now in 'the hands of the police. The sergeant will likely assist you. AUGUST 8. DRUNKENNESS. James Jfroy and John Mays plead guilty to the above often ce, and were' each fined 53 and costs, in default, 24 hours imprisonment. DJSOBEYING SUMMONS. Thos. North pleaded guilty to the above charge, and said he was led to beleive that the case in which, he was to appear aa witness had been settled out of Court. Defendant was then bound over in two sureties of £25 each for his appearance on ( T9th inst. The sareties wore at once found.
