' MU. A. BUCKLAND'S WEEKLY REPORT. At the Haymarkct, 911 Friday last, fodder maintained its value— 3s to os Gd the cwt. Potatoes, m- trade parcels, £1 os to £5 10s; rod carrots, £3 10s the ton ; oats, 2s lid ;'. ""maize, 3s the bushel. But little business was transacted m the horse market ; those offered being mostly old stagers at the auction. For youugl-souud stock there is a steady demand. At the sale of hides,' on Tuesday, several parcels were at low values, from being insufficiently salted. Great loss constantly accrues tc owners from this cause. Sound and clean hides brought 3 9-16 d the lb. Sheepskins are better worth than ji. short time since, aud ranged from 2s 7d to 3s 5d each ; tallow, 22s:cwt: ; rough fat, l 3 d the lb. At Papakurn, on Wednesday, there was a full attendance of bikers, and satisfactory prices throughout the sale. Owing to a mistake m not' repeating the advertisement, less cattle were yarded than would otherwise have been the case. Soventy-five head were yarded and sold. . At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were m usual request. Very few store cattle yarded. Fat cattle m less numbers than of late, 95 head yarded. Prices appeared firmer, but no higher quotations than those of last week could be given. A few of choice quality reached 30s, but the greater portion were at 2Ssthe lOOlbs. Sheep plentiful, but none of prime quality ; prices low, from 2d to 2-kl the lb. Fat pigs abundant,; above 200 sold, many of large size ; prices were well sustained,and varied but slightly, ranging between 2|d and 2Jd the lb., live weight.
MESSES HUNTER AND NOLAI. S WEEKLY • BEI'OBT. , ' Horses.— There has been an improved supply and demand. On Friday there was a large number of entries. Competition was good, and almost all the lots were cleared at prices satisfactory to vendors. We sold hacks from £S 15s to £20, light harness horses from £9 10s to £15, draught from £25 10s to £34 10s.. Cattle.— There has been, a moderate supply and steady demand. Prices have ruled m favour of the vendor, with the exception of fat stock, which are lower than usual at this season of the year. The supply has been much steadier, owing to increased production m the Waikato and the facilities of rail transit. There have been no noteworthy alterations m quotations, with the exception of a few prime fat beasts, for which 30s per lOOlbs. was given. Sheep.— There has been a slight improvement. Fat wethers sold at 15s to 17s 9d, medium from 10s 6d to 14s, store ewes from 6s 6d to 12s 6d.
