Tuesday. The House assembled tit 2.30 p.m. After prayers the members woro'sum. moned to attend His Excellency m the Legislative Council Chamber. On returning, The Speaker announced that ho W been duly presented to His Excellencyand approved of as Speaker. J J NEW MEMBERS. The Convicts Prevention Introduction Jinl was brought m by the Premier, and read a arst time. v
The Premier gave notice that he would introduce an Improst Supply Bill, and a Public Works Imprest Supply Bill, at the next sitting 1 . Also a Bill to make provision for tho suspension of plurality of votes m certain cases. CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES. Sir Win. Fox gave notice of motion for next sitting-day, « That Mr Seymour be elected Chairman of Committees." LICENSING LAWS. Mr Curtis gave notice that he would introduce an amendment of the Licensing Act. - I>IRECT STEAM SERVICE WITH BIUTAIN. The Minister for Public Works gave notice of a committee to inquire and report on the best means of establishing direct steam mail service between New Zealand and the mothar country. THE ADDRESS IN REPLY. Mr Shanks gave notice that on next sitting day he would move an Address m reply. v THE LAND LAWS. Mr Thomson gave notice that he would introduce a Bill to amend the Land Act, 1877. LAND TAX. Mr Thomson gave notice that he would introduce a Land Tax Amendment Bill. AUCKLAND LIBRARIES. Mr Whitakcr : A Bill to Vest the Auckland Provincial Council Library and the Auckland Mechanics' Institute, m the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of .Auckland. REPRESENTATION. Sir George Grey : A Bill to Make Provision for the Representation of the People m the General Assembly. ] PLURAL VOTING. Sir George Groy: A Bill to Suspend Flurality of Voting m Certain Cases.
