The eruption of Mount Etna still continues. Several villages have been overflowed by lava, but no loss of life is reported. The Burmese news is re-assuring. The reports of the hostile attitude of the King are groundless. A. dreadful famine is ragfng at Cashmere. The movements of the dacoits m the Bombay Presidency have collapsed. Yakoob Khan has returned to Kabul. Colonel Cavagnari has been appointed British Resident at Kabul.
