TAMAHERE HIGHWAY DISTRICT BOARD.

The Annual Meeting of the above Board was held at the Royal Hote 1 , Hamilton East, on the Bth insr.

A quorum of the ratepayers being present, Mr Camming was nominated Chairman of the meetiug, and Mr McPherson, Secretary. The Chairman having read, from the Waikato Times, the advertisement calling the meeting, the Chairman of the late Board, Mr Henry Reynolds, reported that, dv.ing the past year, a great amount of necessary work had been done, and consequent expense incurred. The position of the roads within the district was so bad that the Board,* with the consent of the ratepayers, had to close 10 miles 57 chains 50 links of roads, and open, inst sad, 11 miles 75 chains 31 link., the mere survey of which cost £85 10s.

The total expenditure of the Board for the year, amounted to £1,276 Os 2d, and the receipts were £487 16s 9d short of. that sum.

The Secretary then read the annual balance sheet, which was as follows : —

The Chairman, Mr Gamming complimented tho Secretary on the excellent manner m which tbe accounts were presented for audit. On a motion by Mr Leslie, seconded by Mr James Runciman the accounts were passed. The meeting then proceeded to the election of Trustees, Auditors and Fence-viewers with the following result :— Trustees : Mess.s J. °A. Douglas, Patrick Le«% Honry Revnokls, James Runci__an and C. C. Wood. Auditors : Messrs H. W. Tinne and W. Camming, and Fenceviewers, Me.srs S. Seymour and T. Reynolds. With a vote of thanks to the Chairman, this concluded the business of the Annual Meeting. The new Board then assembled and elected Mr Henry Reynolds as Chair-nan,, and Mr J. McPhsrson, Secretary, Valuator and Collector.

.An account due to Waikato Times, £2 9s Gd was passed and ordered to be paid, and ib was agreed that the Board should contribute __5 towards the bonus payable to Mr Breekell for his survey of tlie Cambridge Railway. It was resolved to hold the monthly meetings m the Waikato County Council Chambers on the second Wednesday m each month.
