The Ploughing, by natives, the lands of the settlers, and the turning Taranaki into an armed camp, is a thing which cannot go on for ever. Already there are signs that a change m the game, whether to be played for peace or war, is about to be made. The natives ploughing are, henceforward, not simply to be turned off but arrested, and if proved guilty by the magistrate, committed for trial. This will speedily bring matters to a crisis, one way or the other. Since writing the above, later telegrams' inform us that seventeen of these trespassers have been lodged m New Plymouth gaol.
