The call was 1 signed by 150 signatures. The distriot was stated to comprise Ohaupo, Te Awamutu, Paterangi, and other rising settlements. — The Rev. Mr Evans, who moderated the call, said that there was the greatest unanimity amongst the people m calling the Rev. James Bruce to the pastoral charge of the district. There was a general anxiety to have Mr Bruce for their future minister. — The Rev. D. Bruce said that before the call was placed m the hands of the person for whom it was intended, the claims of the Church at Whangarei should be placed before him. It was also very desirable that, m the event pf Mr James Bruce accepting the call for Waikato West, the Presbytery should take some active steps to supply Whangarei with as little delay as possible. — The moderator then placed both calls m the hands of Mr Bruce, who said he must decline the call to Whangarei, and accept that of Waikato West. — Clerk to Presbytery: Is there any appeal from the decision? — Tbe Rev. D. Bruce : Ido not think that there is any intention to appeal, but it is evident that much disappointment will be felt by the people of Whangarei. Under the circumstances, they have peculiar claims on this Presbytery. — Rev. Mr Macky moved, seconded by the Rev. Mr Macnicol, " That the Presbytery approve the decision made by Mr James Bruce, and undertake to arrange the necessary proceedings for his ordination and induction to his charge."
