The latest news from Capetown reports the Zulus as having set fire to the dry grass, increasing the difficulty of obtaining forage for the troops. Sir Garnet Wolsely, who commanded the Ashantee expedition, has been appointed Governor of the South African colonies of Natal and Transvaal, with power to negotiate a peace with the Zulus. Yakoob Khan receives an annual subsidy from the British Government of six lacs of rupees.
