HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held on Tuesday evening-, to pass the annual balance sheet and accounts. JPre-. sent : the Mayor, and Councillors Hume, Gaudin, Gwynne, Potter' Knox, and Beale. The following is nn abstract. The receipts and expenditure for the year ending: 31st March, are as follows : Receipts: Rates collected, £423 13s; cash bank, £143 9s sd; arrears of rates £8 5s 3d ; fees and licenses, £200 ; impoundins fees, £32 8s 7d; registration of do«-s £43 ss; Abbators fees, £58 13s 7dContractors, deposits, £10 ; Rent of Ferry! £tf2s 11s 8d; Government subsidy, £406 2s 9d ; total, £1,951 9s 3;d. Expeftditme; Salaries, panting; and.
advertising, £365 3s lid; street forming, I repairing and metalling, £656 13a lid; bridges aud culverts, £144 15s 2d; plh.ns [md surveys, £34 Is; auditing, £4 4s; valuation, £23 9s; Returning Officers ees, £16 16s; commission on rates, £9 9s; ditto dog tax, £4 8s 6d; new dog collars, £5 12s ; ferry expenses, £137 7s 2d; legal expenses, £12 5s 8d ; bank interest, £11 4s 7d; sundries, £66 Is 4d; depasturing fees refunded and retnrned, £8 17s ; office furniture, £121 12s 6d ;. stationer, £45 4s; buildings, "%8137 13s; total, £1,840 17s 9d. The Bridge account shows, receipts £5,259 5s 9d, and expenditure, up to 31st March, of £1,669 16s Bd. Statement of the whole assets and liabilities of Borough, oh 3 1st March, 1879 :— Assets : Cash at Bank,. £3,700 0s 7d; arrears of rates, £79; material m stock, £47 10s; building bridge office, £11 lls Id ; Council, £173 13s ; furniture, £121 14s lOd ; tools, £15 ; fire-proof safe, £24; value of cart bridge, as per progressive payments, £1,530 14s lOd; total,. £5,703 8s 4d. . Liabilities:. Contractors for deposits, £260 ; bridge loan, £5,000 ; interest on debts, £50 ; contracts m hand, £60 ; salaries and wages £15 10s ; total, £5,385 10s. The general account -stands as follows: — Receipts : General, account ; £1,951 9s 3d ; bridge account, £5,259 5s 9d; total, £7,210 15s. Expenditure to general account, £1,840 17s 9d; bridge account, £1,669 16s 8d; total, £3,510 14s sd. The abt)ve accounts, which had beenduly audited, were then passed and adopted.
