MITCHELL'S OPERA COMPANY.

Mitchell's Opera Compan? performed last night to a large and appreciative audiene". La' Somnambula was moat creditably put upon the stage and the parts of .Amina by Miss Wanganheim. Elvino by Mr Florence and Lisa by by Mrs Florence were well sustained, that lady making the most of the character which is not one to enlist the sympathies of the audience Mrs Florences' fine contralto voice is veil worth hearing. The acting m the lass scene was excellent, and the curtain fell amidst rounds of applause. Miss "Vfanganheim and Mr Florence received a perfect ovation. The " Still so Gently," and "All is Lost," of Mr Florance were excellently rendered.' After the Opera, the real enjoyment of the evening comraenced/in a miscellaneous concert. The songs, "Rocked m the Cradle of the Deep," and the encore song, "Lost Chimes," deserved the applause which they received. The Company appear again tonight, by special request, m the opera of Martha, and perform under the patronage of the Hamilton Contingent Te Awamutu Volunteer Cavalry, who have guaranteed a certain sum. The surplus, if any, will be devoted to the purchase of instruments for a military band. .After the success of last night, and the enthusiastic manner m which the performance was received, and the laudable object to which the funds are to be devoted, we anticipate a crowded house.
