TO THE BURGESSES OF HAMILTON. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— The resignation of Mr N. R. Cox having caused a vacancy in the Borough Council. At the earnest requests of a number of Burgesses, I have consented to allow myself tobe nominated a candidate for the vacant seat. My fitness for the Office may be explained by my past career as, Mayor, and the experience of the past would, I trust, I assist materially in the efficient and successful administration of the Borough ] in the future. I can only add, that if you do me the honor to elect me, nothing ; shall be wanting on my part to further ] the interests of the Burgesses one and all. I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, « Your obedient servant, 3 I. R. VIALOU. I I t 3 TO TBE BURGESSES OF HAMILTON. ; LADIES and GENTLEMEN,— Since writing my first address, several of the Burgesses have expressed their surprise that I have not made a personal canvass. In answer to those who may think I have neglected them, I may state that if my inclination led me in that direction my . health at the present time would preclude me from so doing ; hut I consider that the Burgesses of Hamilton have sufficient intelligence to guide them in the selection - of a Representative without the personal I solicitation of a Candidate, and I can only : add that if, on the day of election, you confer upon me your suffrages the honor . of representing you in the Council, I ' shall take the opportunity of thanking you, not only in words, but more emphatically by a future spent in a faithful ( discharge of the responsibilities you will l then confer upon me. I am, Ladies aud Gentlemen, I . Ycur obedient servant, I. R. VIALOU.
