WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Council was held on Wednesday, the 9th of April, at Mr Delaney's Hotel, Ohaupo. Present : Cra. Germann (Chairman), Sloane, Buttle, Reynolds, Canningham, Hadfield and Aubin. The minutes of last meeting having been read and confirmed, the correspondence since the 12th of March was read and considered. SLAUGHTER HOUSE LICENSE. An application was received from Mr Salmon, butcher, of Hamilton, asking that a license should be issued to enable him to slaughter on certain premises at Erankton. 'The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Salmon that this Council, not having brouht the Slaughter House Act in operation, he was at liberty to commence killing at once. HOSPITAL. A communication was read from the Colonial Secretary, in reply to certain queries put, as to what the Government would do | towards the establishment of a hospital, stating that if a local institution were established, deductions now made from the several Counties interested, would cease, and all monies applied to support it, by the different bodies, woidd be subsidised £ for £, but Government would not grant anything towards the furnishing of a hospital, although a speoial grant might be made to the building fund, it f urthsr stated that the Government could not endow aay institution with land, nor could they make any pledge as to what future administration might do. The Council were unanimous in their opionion that the matter might saiely be left in the hands of the delegates appointed by the different Councils. BYE- LAWS. It was proposed by Cr. Germann, and seconded by Cr. Sloane, "That this Council hold a special meeting at Ohaupo on Wednesday, May 14, at 1 o'clock p.m., for the purpose of making bye-laws for good government .of the country, and rules and regulations for regulating, the business and proceeding of this Council. ELECTORAL ROLLS. Proposed by Cr. Aubin, seconded by Cr. Hadfield, that the Clerk notify thai the Electoral Rolls be on view as follows : Mangipiko, at the Town Hall, Alexandra ; Rangioahia, a* residence of the Chairman of the Highway District, W. Sloane, Esq. ; Pukekura, at the residence of Mr Fitzgerald, Hamilton; at the residence of the Chairman of the District Board, S. Steele, Esq. ; Tuhikaramea, at the residence of the Secretary of the District i Board; Newcastle; at the Chairman of the District Board, H. Byron, Esq. MAP Of COUNTY. Cr. Hadfiekl proposed that the Clerk . be instructed to write to Mr Smith of ' the Survey Office, asking cost of a plan of the whole County of Waipa, shewing the different ridings, railway and roads, with the distance and bearing, also the reserves, and for what purpose. The -motion was seconded by Cr. Aubin, and agreed to. COUNTY SEAL. On the motion of Cr. Aubin, seconded by Cr. Hadfield, the Clerk was instructed to procure designs for a seal for the Council. COUNCIL CHAMBERS. Only three tenders were received for the erection of Council Chambers, and of these only one was formal. The Council were of opinion that sufficient notice had not_ been given. It was, consequently, decided to advertise an extension of the time for receiving tenders, to Tuesday, the 22nd inst. NOTICE OP MOTION. Cr. Cunningham gave notice that, at next meeting of the Council, he would move that the day and hour of the ordinary meeting be altered. The following accounts were passed, and ordered to be paid : Mr Aubin, 14s 6d; Mr E. Hope, £1 10s; Rangiaohia District' Board, £100; Tuhikaramea District Board, £50 ; Mangipiko District Board, £50 ; Upton, 18s 6d.
