News has been received from New Guinea that six native teachers at the South-east Cape have been poisoned by the natives placing upas trees m the drinking water. MELBOURNE, March 18. The rumours of probable changes m the Ministry, recently m circulation, are now proved to be devoid of foundation. SYDNEY, March 18. At a large meeting of tbe miners of the Lambton colliery, it was] decided to join the other collieries m j enforcing the vend system. The manager of the Lambton mine declines to agree to this decision, and the miners have therefore given a fortnights notice. Signor d'Alberti's account of New Guinea has raised a strong feeling m Italy m favor of colonisation. Mennotti Garibaldi, with 3000 Italians, will leave Italy m time to reach New Guinea m the autumn, for the purpose of establishing a colony there.
