HOLE AND CORNER MEETINGS.
Sir, —"Anti-Humbug," m his letter of Maroh Gth, adopts the good old plan of
calling* thoße with whose views he canno 6 agree, fools, but he may remember that it is easier to call people fools, than to prove it. No mention had been made m either of the letters ho objects to, as to the private charactev of those composing the Newcastle Highway Board, and if the Board objects to their action, as public trustees, being entertained, then it is quite time that they resigned iv favour of men with more advanced and enlightened views. Anti-Humbug echo's the wishes of Whatawhata and other ratepayers, when he advises (that they should become better informed as to the doings of the Newcastle Highway Board) and they feel what he truly describes as (their humiliating position) having only such information of tbe Board's doings as that august body, m their greatness, chose privately to bestow. — I. am, &c, Whatawhata. [This correspondence has gone quite as far as is necessary for the public benefit. Further communications charged at scale rates, as advertissmeats.— Ed. W.T.]
