Correspondence.
(Our correspondence columns arc impartially open to all, but w$ do not in any way identify ourselves with opinions expressed therein.) Sib,—ln your issue of this day, I notice a letter signed "J. tfriton " The writer evidently considers that I, through an article which appeared in your paper of Saturday last, have received oredit which is due to him. As I have hitherto found it unnecessary to poach upon any other inan's preserves, and am always willing to give honor to whom honor is due, I feel great pleasure in stating that the Narrows Bridge was designed by Mr Briton, and the plan, subject to Government approval, aooeptfld by the Committee; also, that publio tenders were callod for, and Mr Triton's tender accepted before I had any oonneotion with the Narrows bridge or the ommittee. When the Committee appointed ma their engineer, ray duties were to see that the work was properly and faithfully oarried out, and to represent them for the purposes of the oontraot. I may also add that the work was carried out satisfactorily to all parties.— I am, &C, Wll <J. bEBAKBLL. Hamilton, Feb. 11,1879.
