THE RACES.
We publish elsewhere the acceptances for the several events at Weduesday'a aud Thursday's races. The list of horses which have accepted is a full one, and gives promise of firstclass sport. The coming meeting bids fair to bo one of the most successful ever held ia Waikato, a very lively interest being felfc, nob only within bat without the district, as testified by the number of horses entered from Auckland and elsewhere. The events set apart for horses owned by natives, will, no ; doubt, prove attractive to the Maoris, and we may look for a large attentdance from beyond the border, more especially at the presant time when a better feeling is starting up between the two races. Tv Tawhiao, the king's son, will be present, and also at the ball, which will take plaoo m Pearce's large room, at Hamilton, on Thursday evening, for which every preparation U being made, and which will not be the least successful of the many pleasant i balls held at the same hostelry on similar occasions during tho past conple .of years. With the best efforts of the Cambridge Band dancers cannot but enjoy themselves, and host Poarce's name is a guarantee for faultlessness m the, to elderly gentlemen at least, even more important department of the supper table. We hare already, m our last publication, alluded to the fact that the Narrows Bridge will be available to residents of Waikato and Piako as a direct means of reaching the racecourse, and need not therefore further refer to that matter. The Waikato Steam Navigation Company, also, are doing their best to accommodate other portions of the public, and make the means of getting to the course as. easy as possible. Steamers will run from Ngaruawahia, Hamilton, and Cambridge to-morrow for Steele's landing, from whence the course can easily be reached, leaving Steele's landing after the races at 6 p.m., and on the second day, if sufficient inducement offers, a steamer will also run between Cambridge and that point. The Yatterina, oolt, arrived yesterday m capital condition, as also did the three horses Harry Mount, Tregaagle 11, and Gillie Callum, from Mr Caulton's stable. Memento is said to be m excellent condition, and quite recovered from the strain to her leg which she some little time since incurred.
