A FEVER BED.

Sir,—Some time sinoe, a correspondent drew attention in your paper to the diugustinc effluvia from the overflow of impure water in the yard of certain premises upon the public Btreet o-day, tho nuisance is utterly unbearable to those who have to abide in it for hour* at a time, and cannot but be highly detrimental to the public health at a time when English cholera is rifo, and typhoid fever perhaps aot far off. Surely, if the Inspeotor of Nuisances is powerless to aot, and it seems this is so, something might be done to disinfect this dangerous nuisance either by the Borough » ouncil or by the owner of the premises from whence it issues.—l am, &c, Health. Hamilton, February 3, 1879.
