The next monthly meeting of the Cambridge Farmers' Club takes place en Monday evening. The Waikato Tuep Club intend celebrating their summer meeting with a ball, to be held m the large room of Pearce's Commercial hotel, on the night of the Uth insfc. A New Bailwav Tehe-Table is issued for February, coming into operation to-day. The principal change is the alteration of the time of departure of the early up-train, which now Ohaupo at 6.50, Hamilton at 7.10, and Ngaruawahia at 7 53, instead of #.25, 7.8 and 7.50 respectively. The change of hour m the midday up-train is greater. Instead of leaving Ohaupo at 12 noon, Hamilton at 12.40, and Ngaruawahia at 1.23 p.m., it leaves those station! at 1.20, 1,49 and 2.23 p.m., respectively. The levels of Victoria-street, Greystreet, Bridge-street East, Granthamstreet, and Heaphy Terrace may now be seen at the Town Clerk's Office, Hamilton Borough Council. The Council will sit on February 24 to hear objections to the same. All such objections must be m writing, addressed to the Council, and sent m not less than ten clear days before the 24th instant. Tbndbhs for the erection of Mr GiUett's house at the Peach Grove, Hamilton, must be sent m to the architect, Mr T. H. White, by noon of to-day. Tendebs for sinking a well on the parsonage ground, Hamilton, will be received by Mr B. F. Sandes, until noon of . Monday ne^t.

Alterations and additions are to be made to the Waikato bounty Council Chambers, and the present building is going to bo moved opposite to Lo Quesne's. Tenders for performance of the work will be received by Mr T. H. White up to noon of Thursday next. The Piako Annual Race Meeting will take place on March 17, St. Patrick's Day. A list of the several events will be found m our advertising columns, but as yefc the amount of the etake£ : td be run for has not been fixed. Subscriptions, however, have come m very liberally, and wo have reason to believe that the Committee will be m a position to offer such stakes as will induce a keen competition m the several races. Extension op Telegraph.— Not only will Ohaupo very Boon bo connected with the reat of tho colony by telegraph, but Kihikihi also. For years past, there has been a telegraph station, and the wires Irom Cambridge have been led into it, but the operator and tho apparatus were wanting. That want, however, is to be rectified. Workmen are busy putting the building into repair, and m two or threo weeks at farthest the wire will be open for the transmission of messages to Kihikihi. Mft FircspATßiCK has for sale at tho present moment a very choice selection of about 450 acres near the Whatawhata township, which will shortly be connected with Hamilton by a good road of only six miles. The farm, 550 acres m extent, is all, except 100 acres, laid down m good English grasses. It has a frontage to the Waipa river and main roads of the district, and has the necessary requirements of a farm homestead, house buildings, orchard, &c. Raqhn and Aotea Road. -rThe works on this road are being vigorously proceeded with, despite the attempts of a small party of Hnuhaus to forbid their being further oarried on. About twenty natives, under Eowene, a Hauhau living near Aotea, ordered the road parties, con* sisting of natives, to cease work. This the road parties refused to do, as the road is laid off on European territory Mr Bush, the Resident Magistrate, was appealed to, and he pointed out this fact to the Hauhaus. Fortunately, however, Tawhiao arrived during the dispute, and at once overruled all interference on the i part of the Hauhaus. At the Colac sale held early m January, tho following pedigree stock were bought by Mr C. Simpson for New Zealand :— Maid of Oxford, red and white, calved July 18, 1875, by Oxford Cherry Duke, dam Fanny 10th, by Royal Butterfly 19th, — 125 guinea! ; Countess of Colac, red and white, calved January 2, 1876, by Earl of Geneva (with calf at foot), dam Red Duchess, by Duke of Brunswick,— •100 guineas; 11th Earl of Alvie, white, calved April 2, 1878, by sth Earl of Derrimut, dam Letitia 4th, by Tho Beau, — 50 guineas. Hamilton Bobough Council. — The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Council will be held oh Monday evening, when the Engineer's report on the bridge works, for which many are anxiously looking, especially as it is known that certain experiments have been made since last meeting m the length of tho piles driven, will be laid before the meeting. The hours for attendance of the clerk will also be fixed, and fresh tenders called for application for tho office. In the division list, at the last meeting, on the motion for calling for fresh applications, the names of those voting for it should have been Crs. Gaudin, Dawaon, Gardiner, Knox, Hume and the Mayor — not mover, as printed m our last. The thoroughbred entire horse 1 , Musket, arrived m Hamilton, yesterday, by the mid-day train, and was met by Captain Walmsley, who proceeded with him, at once, to Broadmeadows. The Rev. C. M. Nelson, of St. Paul's, Auckland, will preach at tho morning and evening services, m St. John's Church, Te Awamutu, to-morrow. The Annual Peesbttebian School Tbeax, held at Mr James' Farm, Waipa, was a great success, the children numbering about 50. A large concourse of adult friends were present, who, all seemed to enjoy themselves greatly. Amusements consisted of swinging, racing, jumping, &c. Among the sports, were some novel events, viz., ladies sack race. Some difficulty was experienced with regard to skirts (what will a woman not do to accomplish an object, if determined). With the assistance of some of our local beaux, the fair competitors were safely packed (m this instance giving, instead cf taking the sack). Tho contest was close, but Miss G r, who displayed considerablo jumping powers, won by a length (good measure). The next novelty was a ladies three-legged race. Tho race was run with great spirit, and elicited tho greatest fun. The party returned by the Lillie, at 0 p.m., highly delighted with the treat. On arrival, three cheers were given for the piper, and three for the Precentor. Noabuawahia Races. — The programme of events, to come off at tho Ngaruawahia annual races, which were postponed until tho 17th of March, so as not to clash with Christmas and New Year's sports m other parts of the district, will be found m our advertising columns. Calder at the Piako, the church parade will take place on the 9th instant instead of to-morrow. The Rev. W. Calder will hold Divine service at tho Waihou at 10 a.m. tomorrow, and at Piako at 3 p.m., returning to Hamilton m time for evening service at 7 p.m. A telcgbah from Rotorua states that the Government Land Purchase Agents have succeeded m securing au area of from 80,003 to 100,000 acres m the Taupo j district, notwithstanding the efforts of private speculators to obtain the same laud.
