NGARUAWAHIA ANNUAL SCHOOL ELECTION.

Sib,— lt would be highly edifying as well as instructive if the author of the report of the Ngaruawahia school meeting, contained m your issue of to-day, had placed his name at the bottom of that wonderful document. In the fullness and groat joy of his heart, he might have informed those who were absent ou that occasion fc_ how suoh an extraordinary rosult was ' brought about as to give one man thirtytwo^ votes from seven voters. Another candidate, who could not be induced to contribute a paltry half-crown towards the children's annual sohoolfea^t, plumped for himself; thia is habitual. There were four other chosen spiritu rolled up for the occasion. The amount of intelligence and respectability possessed by this exclusive mob ia m entire keeping with the whole affair. There were just two and twonty persons m the room, and that number, > am told, comprises the largest meeting of the kind known to have* taken vlacoin Ngaruawahia. How, sir, I may tell you without fear of contradiction that a full meeting would have comprised some fifty persons, and I further venture to Bay that there is not a respectable householder m the place who does not regret the absence from that meeting of those parents and Residents who should have attended, but neglected to do so. It does not appear m your report either that some very foggy explanations were made by certain excommitteemon with regard to school funds over which they had no control ; this is, I fear, a kind of weakness. There are, also, persons about who do not hesitate to say that some, who have figured not over oreditably m fohool matters, would have better consulted decency by remaining at home. — I am, &c, Tell the Tbuth and Shame the Devil.
