RAGLAN.
January 21. Yesterday, January 20, tho long-talkcd-of return match between the Ngaruawahia and Raglan Cricket Clubs came off at tho latter place. Tho wickets were pitched shortly after teii o'clock, the Nganriwahia team handling the willow fir<t, their representatives being Messrs B irton and Bromfield. The Ngaruawahia team were placed at rather a disadvantage, owing to the absence of five of their number, who failed to put m an appearance at the appointed time. Men and boys were, however, found to fill the places of the absentees, and a very pleasant and close game was the result. The scores of the two iuuiugs ou each side were as under : — NGARUAWAHIA. The la-jt two or three overs caused some excitement, especially after the game was a tie. At the conclusion of the match, the visitors were entertained at a dinner, given them by the local club at Graham s Hotel, when the usual toasts m vogue on such ooonuwns were proposed. About nine, ttvh v company adjourned to the dance-room, where the terpischoreau art was indulged m till tho very small nours of the morning. This ended a most pleasant and enjoyable day.
