RESIDENT MAGISTRATES'S COURT.
Hamilton, January 23, 1878. (Before Doctor Waddington, J.P.) James Loyd was charged with a breach of the Vagarenfc Aot, 18GG, to wifc, being found by night, without lawful excuse, in an outhouse on Mr Gwynne'B premises. Richard Gwynne and Sergfc. McGovern were examined. The latter stated the prisoner's character iu plain language. The Court; asked what; was the date of the lasfc conviction against the prisoner. Sergfc. McGovern stated that the last date was the 9fch September, 1878, befere the Court in Hamilton. His Worship remarked to tho prisoner, thai "he had been before him in other parts of the district. The prisoner admitted the soft impeachment, but added, thafc he hoped his Worship would givo hira another chance. Dr Waddington said, he thought that prisoner had got by far too many chances. The senfconce of the Court was, thafc he be imprisoned in Mount Eden Gaol, and there kept to hard labor for tliree months.
