ANNIVERSARY DAY AMUSEMENTS.

Sib,—As the 29th inat. is the anniversary of the colony and a public holiday, might I suggest to the Waikato Steam Navigation Company the great boon it would bo to tho people of this Borough were a steamer laid on for some nice shady spot, up or down the river—Taupiri, for instance, —at such fares as would, induce every pater and mater to take their children with them, picnics being of such a nature that all parties, old and young, may enjoy themselves. The change of air and scene for a day would, I think, prove beneficial. I think that, if the Company entertained tho notion, a uionBter picnic would be the result, especially as thero are no counter attractions elsewhere. —I am, &c, Pateb. Hamilton, January 17, 1879.
