KNOTTINGLEY is a dark Chesnut, standing over 16 hands high; with immense bone and substance. By Scud, dam Termagant (own sister to G/lendon), by Cap-a-Pie: Griselda by Dover, Gertrude by Trumpet, Scud by Riddlesworth, Spray by Donizetti, Lady Ann by Whisker. Sprey 1b the dam of Wetsail, Stormbird, Belle of the Isles (dam of Templeton), and other good performers. Scud is by Rtddlesworth, sire of Dainty Ariel, and very many other good horses. Knottingley as a Racehorse won all his engagements as a three-year old at Timaru (including Timaru Cup), Oamaru and Dunedin ; and won m the following years the Canterbury Cup twice, besides many other races, beating the best racehoises of the day.
