MAJOR CLARES FUNERAL
The funeral o? Major Clare, which took place on Thursday, at Cambridge, was attended by settlers from all parts of the Waikato district. Many did not know even of that gentbnian's decease, still less of the day and hour of the funeral, until they received the morning paper, but, nevertheless aid though it ia the busiest of the hay season, there oould not have been loss than three hundred persons present; The funeral cortage left (he late residence of the deceased shortly before one o'clock, and was attended by a large concourse on horseback,
in vehicles, and on foot.
