CRICKET.

The first match of the season, Cambridge v Hamilton, ca<os off on Saturday, between the two teams, on the ground of the latter. The early part of the day was not favorable, some very heavy showers falling, which sent both sides to the Jeit. The Captain of the Cambridge Eleven won the toss, and sent Hamilton to the wickets. The bits were taken by Gleeson and Rhodes, and w^hen the last man, Edgcurabe, carried away his bat, the Humiltotiians had run up the very respectable score of 93 Cambridge then went m, to the bowling of J. Wood and N. R, C >x, and were disposed of for 39. Following on their innings. Cambridge went m agaia, but fortune was against them, and by five o'clock, when the last wicket fell; had only added 111 to the score, leaving Hamilton winner by 35.
