Sprey is the dam of TVetsail, Skormbird, Belle of the Isles (dam of Templeton), and other good performers. Scud is by Riddlesworth, sire of Dainty Ariel, and very many other good horses. Knottingley as a Racehorse won all his engagements as a three-year old at Timaru (including Timaru Cup), Oamaru and Dunedin; and won in the following years the Canterbury Cup twice, besides many other races, beating the best racehot ses of the day. .Knottingley's career on the turf was the most successful of any horse that ever ran in New Zealand.
