THE LATE RIVER ACCIDENT.

Naturally coacladiag that he mast be a' special reporter ot the ' Evening Star,' we pulled off to his rescue. On near approach, the thing turned out to be a black vulture or carrion crow (oathartes atratns) waiting to perform the duty that nature ; has assigned to him,. Can you inform me whether any. of these birds were im ported by the Acclimatisation Society ?■■— I am, &c, Enquirer. [Perhaps it was a ' Bt»r' carrier pigeon that our .correspondent -mistook- for a black vulture,-rjED. W.T.] <
