William Joyce charged on the the informationof Constable Haddock with the above oflbnee, plcided not James Martin, storekeeper, of Hamilton, deposed to prisoner ordering a pair of irousei'S unci vest to be
made for him. He called for them on the 9th inst. and informed witness that Mr Coates, hi? employer was away and would return on the following Tuesday or Wednesday when ho would get his wages and would then come and pay witness. Wifcneai allowed him to take the clothes away, v.tlue ,£2 10s, on this representation solely, Isaac Coates, contractor, swoi'D, stated that the prisoner was in his employ in Octobsr, and that on the . 2ud November, he, witness, gave him notice to leave. Prisoner left on the 9th November, and witness going away from home, left the balauce of prisoners' wages somo.; disc or seven shillings with the servant gill to,give him. ..■:'>;.'■', ' ? ' - Pi isoner was sentenced to two months! imprisonment in Mount Eden Gaol, and the : clothes were ordered to be returned to Mr Martin.
